What is something in your industry that you hope you can fix, improve or grow?

My mission has always been to inject “common sense” or sensibility into every decision. Certainly, there are always fantastic technical ways to solve a problem, but if they come with extreme cost or extreme time, then I feel we should ask, “are they the best solutions?” Over time I hope we can move the industry to more of this mindset and improve the interactions of consultants, owners, developers, and contractors.

Are you a pessimist, optimist or realist and why do you think it helps you make the decisions you make?

I’m a realist. Confronting the brutal truths of a situation, no matter how disheartening they may be, will always lead to a better decision.

What do you like about working for BECI?

The company’s culture is what I love the most. When we have “Work Hard Play Hard” in our core values, it’s not just lip service. The people and family-first atmosphere at BE-CI make it a joy to come to work each day.

Which one of the 4 Core Values do you identify with the most and why?

Servant – When we were determining BE-CI’s core values, one of the stories that drew us to this value was a saying from my grandfather “Aint no one above cleaning toilets.” This means that no matter your title, role, or responsibilities, you work with your team to accomplish the necessary tasks. He lived this out and I try to every day as well, whether it’s negotiating contracts with large clients, performing site visits, or cleaning toilets!

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I enjoy playing Golf, grilling, watching sports, and hanging out with my family.
