BE-CI engineers observed irregular vertical lines appearing on the infrared scans at multiple floor levels. BE-CI performed a detailed review of the structural drawings, followed by drilling into the block walls for confirmation, before publishing a complete wall scan report that indicated a significant amount of vertical structural reinforcement was missing or misplaced throughout the building.
BE-CI determined that when infrared thermography is utilized in field inspections, it is an extremely useful tool in identifying otherwise hidden problems. Wall displacement and cracking will likely result when structural grouting is omitted or misaligned.
Infrared surveying, when used during a roof analysis, can identify isolated areas of damage or accumulated hidden moisture below the membrane. Results from this type of survey translate into a design for specific repairs and prevent unnecessary demolition or even total roof replacement.
